The show inspired Austin City Limits Music Festival, an annual live music festival at Zilker Park in Austin. “The Live Music Capital of the World” is also host of South by Southwest (SXSW). It is one of the largest music festivals in the United States and is centered around the downtown Austin Convention Center.
A City on the Water
If you are planning on spending some time in Austin, make sure you visit Town Lake Metropolitan Park. With over 10 miles of hiking and biking trails, it is the focus of outdoor activity in downtown Austin. After you enjoy some of the great hiking and biking trails, sit back and relax at Chuy’s for Mexican food or Shady Grove for food and music on the patio.
In addition to the many restaurants, bars, coffee shops and boutiques, some of downtown Austin’s other popular attractions for you to enjoy include 6th Street, Congress Avenue Bridge Bats, Austin Children’s Museum, Austin Museum of Art, Texas State Capitol, and Barton Springs.
A City for Moviemakers
You might be surprised to know that for the past seven years, MovieMaker Magazine has named Austin among the top moviemaking cities in the country. In 2004, the Capital City topped the list of “Top 10 Cities for Moviemakers” and took the #3 spot this year, just behind New York City and Philadelphia.
